Santa games for December

Santa games come in two kinds: games about finding him, and games where you are him. The trackers open in December and fill up on Christmas Eve. The ones where you drive the sleigh are on Steam and VR. Here is what to expect and when.

The Santa trackers and their games

NORAD Tracks Santa. The North American Aerospace Defense Command has tracked Santa every December 24 since 1955. The site fills up with countdown activities in December, and the live map runs on Christmas Eve.
Google Santa Tracker. Google's Santa's Village opens in December with small games and activities, a new one unlocking each day in past years. Code Boogie, where kids write simple code to make elves dance, has been one of them.
Fortnite Winterfest. Not a tracker, but Fortnite's December event hands out a free gift a day. Last year it ran from December 18, 2025 to January 5, 2026. The 2026 dates are not out yet.

Games where you play as Santa

Steering the sleigh is the fantasy. A few games deliver it.

Silent Night - A Christmas Delivery. Take the reins of Santa's sleigh and steer the reindeer over procedurally made islands to drop presents. On Steam.
Santa Sling. A first-person VR game where you fling presents from the sleigh into chimneys below.
Santa Simulator. A short VR game where you ring the bell and throw presents into chimneys for a score. It comes bundled with Richie's Plank Experience on Steam.

Santa games for kids at home

For younger kids, the trackers are the main event. Put the Google village on a big screen on December 1 and open one activity a day. On the 24th, check NORAD's map at bedtime and point out how close he is.

Older kids want to drive. A good Santa game has a timer, a route and a reason to hurry: chimneys light up, dogs bark, parents wake up. That is also the easiest Santa game to make yourself.
