# How to make a game with ChatGPT, from first prompt to a game you can play

## Steps: make a game in the ChatGPT chat (any plan)

- **1. Describe one small game.** Name the controls, how you win and how you lose. Example: "A Breakout game in one HTML file, arrow keys and touch, 3 lives, a high score."
- **2. Save and open it.** Save the code as game.html and open it with a web browser on a computer. One file is easiest to run.
- **3. Fix one thing at a time.** Paste the error or say what looks wrong. Ask for one change per message.
- **4. Host it to share it.** Friends cannot open a file on your laptop. Upload it to a web host to get a public link.

## Steps: build and host a game with ChatGPT Sites (Plus and Pro)

OpenAI says Sites lets you create, host and share websites, apps and games, on ChatGPT web or the desktop app.

- **1. Open Work and describe the game.** Select Work, then say "website" in your prompt or mention @Sites.
- **2. Test the preview.** Play the private preview and ask for changes until it works.
- **3. Deploy it.** Deploying gives the Site its URL. New Sites are private by default.
- **4. Choose who can play.** In Share, pick selected people or, where available, anyone on the internet.

## Can ChatGPT make a mobile game?

It can write the code, but a store app takes more. An iPhone app is built in Xcode, which runs on macOS, and the App Store needs the Apple Developer Program at $99 a year. Google Play asks for a one-time $25 registration fee.

For a game just for you and your friends, a web game with touch controls is the simpler goal.
