Cars wind down a cliffside road above the sea, pines on one side and a long drop on the other, and some of them are marked WANTED. BOLLARD BOSS is a reflex game in the Roam app on iPhone, and the rule is one line: raise the bollard for WANTED cars only. Hit BOLLARD to block a wanted car, or RAM to knock it off course. Stop an innocent driver and you lose points. Let a wanted one go and it escapes. It plays like the sharpest of car crash games, where you choose which car to hit.

Two buttons, one rule

Watch each car as it comes down the road.
Look for the WANTED tag.
Tap BOLLARD to raise the post in front of a wanted car.

Car crash games with a judgment call

Most car crash games are about smashing everything. BOLLARD BOSS is about smashing the right thing. The cars come one after another, and you have a second to read the tag and pick a button.

That makes it close to a police chase game turned around. You are not chasing. You are the roadblock, and only the wanted cars should hit it.

The setting is calm on purpose. Sea, pines and a quiet road make the WANTED tag pop the moment it appears, so the only thing that should rush you is the car.

Tips for your first shift

Read the car before you touch anything. Most mistakes come from tapping the moment a car appears. Raise the bollard a little early, since the post needs a moment to come up. Save RAM for wanted cars that are already past the bollard point.

Stay calm when several cars come at once. Deal with the wanted one and let the rest go by.
