A shanty city stretches below you in sepia light, and above it hangs a maze of platforms, ropes and junk going up into the clouds. The timer starts and the height meter says 0 meters. Jump, climb, and keep going without falling. Players who want an Only Up mobile experience will feel the same pull here. The climb is free in the Roam app on iPhone.

How to climb

  1. Move with the joystick on the left.
  2. Tap the jump button to leap to the next platform.
  3. Find a route up through the hanging platforms and junk.
  4. Watch the height meter climb, and try not to fall.

Why it keeps you climbing

  • A huge sky city with a strong sense of scale
  • A height meter and a timer at the top of the screen
  • Simple controls: move and jump
  • Real fall tension: one slip can cost you a lot of height

If you like Only Up: an Only Up mobile style climb

Only Up took a simple idea, climb a tower of random stuff into the sky, and made it a sensation. Don't Look Down has that same promise on iPhone. The world is a hanging shanty town instead of floating objects, but the feeling is the same: every meter is earned, and falling hurts.

The sepia sky and huge scale make it feel high up, and the timer in the corner lets you race your own best climb.

Tips for climbing higher

Look before you jump. Stand still for a second and find the next two platforms, not just one.

Short hops are safer than big jumps. Save long leaps for gaps you cannot cross any other way. If you fall, look at the height meter. You probably kept more height than you think.

Use the camera. Turning to see the platform behind you often shows an easier route up.

How it compares to other climbing games

Many climbing games use ropes, hammers or tools. Don't Look Down keeps it to jumping, so the challenge is all about route and timing. The city below is always in view, which is exactly why the name is good advice. The higher you get, the more the drop shows how far you have come.
