Wizard games to cast, brew and duel
The biggest wizard game is still Hogwarts Legacy, and Warner Bros. has called a sequel a top priority, with no date yet. In the meantime there are spell duels you shout into a microphone, potion shops and element mixers. Here are the best wizard games sorted by the kind of magic you want.
Wizard school and adventure
- Hogwarts Legacy (Avalanche Software, 2023). Be a student at Hogwarts in the 1890s: classes, spells, brooms and a huge castle to explore. On PC, PlayStation, Xbox and Switch.
- Hogwarts Legacy 2. Warner Bros. said in 2024 that a sequel is one of its top priorities. No title, date or platforms have been announced.
- Witchbrook (Chucklefish, January 28, 2027). A cozy magic life sim from Chucklefish: train as a witch in a seaside town. Listed on Steam for January 28, 2027, and planned for PC, PlayStation, Xbox and Switch.
Spell duels
- Mage Arena (jrsjams, early access July 2025). PvP wizard fights where you cast by saying the spell name into your microphone. Chaotic and best with friends on voice chat.
- Magicka (Arrowhead, 2011). Co-op wizards for up to four who combine elements into spells, and hit each other by accident more often than the enemies.
Brewing and combining
Roam is a free iPhone app with magic games of its own. Runeweaver: Trials of the Arcanum is a wizard academy adventure: a young wizard, a castle court and a rune waiting to be found. Spellwind follows an elf mage and her grimoire. Element Alchemist is the Infinite Craft style, and Stir the Map is a cozy potion shop where every villager has a problem and you brew the answer.
- Infinite Craft (Neal Agarwal, 2024). Start with water, fire, wind and earth, combine them, and keep going forever. AI makes each new result the first time anyone finds it.
- Little Alchemy. The older element-combining puzzle in the same spirit. Fire plus water makes steam, and so on.
- Potion Craft: Alchemist Simulator (niceplay games, tinyBuild). Run a medieval potion shop: grind herbs, stir the cauldron and sell to customers.
