How to use Roblox Build
Roblox Build is a tab in the Roblox mobile app that turns a typed prompt into a playable starter game. Roblox announced it on July 16, 2026, and the public alpha began in New Zealand on July 28 for age-checked users 9 and up. If you cannot see the tab, it has not reached your region yet.
How to get access
Update the Roblox app, complete the age check, and look for the Build tab. You need to be 9 or older and in a supported region. Roblox said the rollout will expand to more regions over the coming months but has not given dates, so there is no firm release date outside New Zealand yet.
Using it, step by step
- Prompt. Describe the game in plain words. More detail, like goal, enemies and how you lose, gives a better first build.
- Refine. Send follow-ups to change the look, add features or adjust difficulty.
- Playtest. Play your draft at any point. Playing and testing do not use your allowance.
- Share. Send a private playtest link to up to 10 friends. They need Roblox accounts and must be 9 or older.
- Publish. One tap after a quick safety check puts it on your profile. Build games default to players 16 and older.
- Move to Studio, carefully. Editing a Build game in Roblox Studio turns it into a standard Studio game for good. Make changes in the Build chat to keep it a Build game.
The daily allowance
Every message you send, including small follow-ups, uses part of a daily AI allowance shown as a progress bar. It resets the next day. You can also buy more with Robux, and bought credits do not expire. Auto top-ups exist with a daily spend limit.
To stretch it, put the whole game in the first prompt and batch several changes into one message. Build works best for clickers, arcade games, collect-and-score games, side-scrollers and puzzles. Roblox says 3D is planned.
If Build is not available to you
Roblox Studio on a Windows PC or Mac has its own AI Assistant that writes Luau. On iPhone, Roam turns a sentence or a photo into a playable game you change by talking. It runs in Roam, not on Roblox, and you can play it with friends today.
