Abyssal Drift gameplay on RoamPlay free now

Abyssal Drift is one of the few games like Subnautica on mobile, and you play it in the Roam app on iPhone. Your lifepod has landed on the floor of an alien ocean, and the radio says it plainly: you are the only signal. Swim in first person through glowing coral and light rays, scan every strange lifeform and salvage the wreck. The O2 timer starts at 2:30, so every dive is a trip out and a trip back.

Controls and survival

  1. Swim with the joystick and use the up and down buttons to change depth.
  2. Hold SCAN next to strange lifeforms to log them.
  3. Switch between the knife and the scanner in your slots.
  4. Watch the oxygen timer and boost back before it runs out.

What you get

  • A first-person alien seafloor with caustics and light rays
  • A scanner, a knife and an oxygen timer
  • A story told by radio from your lifepod
  • Depth tracking with your best dive saved

Games like Subnautica, scaled to a phone

The setup will feel familiar right away. You are stranded in an alien ocean, the water glows, and your oxygen is the clock that matters. The first goal is to scan the alien coral beside the pod, just a few meters away.

Abyssal Drift is much smaller than Subnautica. There is no base building and no huge crafting tree. The focus is on the dive itself: swim out, scan, salvage, get back. That suits a phone. One trip is a short session, and the radio lines give you a reason to go a little deeper next time.

Tips for your first dives

Start with the coral next to the pod, as the objective says. Get used to the up and down buttons before you go far. Turn back with time to spare, since the swim home always takes longer than you think. Use boost on the way back, not on the way out.

Who it is for

Fans of ocean exploration, calm survival games and alien worlds. It is atmospheric rather than action-heavy.

The HUD shows a lot at once, with oxygen, depth, the objective and radio lines from ATLAS-7. Take a moment on the first dive to read it, and it will make sense quickly.
