Phone games that actually work with friends

A phone game works for a group only if everyone can get in fast. Here are the ones that do, split by how you play together: online lobbies, one phone passed around, and new 2026 releases.

Online lobbies: everyone on their own phone

Among Us. Innersloth's social deduction game. Up to 15 crewmates, one or more impostors, and an argument every round.
Brawl Stars. Supercell's top-down shooter. Short 3v3 matches make it easy to play one more with friends.
Stumble Guys. A knockout party race with big lobbies. Party up with friends and queue together.
Rainbow Six Mobile. New this year. Ubisoft launched it worldwide on iOS and Android on February 23, 2026. It is a free-to-play tactical shooter, attackers against defenders.

One phone, passed around

Heads Up! is the classic: hold the phone to your forehead, friends shout clues. Pass-and-play chess or a trivia app works on a couch too. These are best when someone's phone is dead or the group is mixed ages.

Roam games your friends can join

Roam is a free iPhone app. Friends can be in a game you make, not just in the lobby, and you can play solo when they are offline.

Good group picks from the feed: Block Wars is a 5v5 first-person street shooter. Mob Kart Mayhem is blocky karts with item boxes and a four-race cup. Bed Blitz puts eight beds on eight sky islands, and you keep yours alive. Slime Scramble is a party royale: eight in, one crowned. Read My Head is a schoolyard deathmatch: read their number before they read yours. Tank City has you level the district and get paid for every block.

Tips for a phone game night

Pick a game with private rooms so strangers do not fill your lobby. Set a round limit before you start. Mix game types: one shooter, then a party game, so the people who lost the first one still have fun.

Make a phone game your friends join with Roam

Describe it in a sentence or start from a group photo. Roam makes it playable, and you can change it by talking, like "make it four players".

Try: "kart race around our neighborhood, my friends are the drivers, banana peels are their faces"
