You spawn on a night street of porch houses with an AK, four teammates and a red crew already coming down the road. Block Wars is a 5v5 gang shooter game in first person, played in the Roam app on iPhone, and bots fill both sides so a match starts at once. Every kill grows your streak, and your flip phone rings with rewards: a lookout who marks enemies, backup who fight next to you, and at 9 kills a car that rolls down the block while your crew shoots from the windows.

Controls and kill streaks

Your left thumb moves you, and dragging on the right half turns and aims.
Press fire to shoot and the aim button to look down the sights or through a sniper scope.
Throw a frag at a group hiding behind a car or a wall.
Hit 3 kills for LOOKOUT, 5 for BACKUP and 9 for the RIDE-BY.
Win the mode: top the kill count in team deathmatch, or play the objective in modes like Turf and Bag Run.

Maps, guns and modes

Six maps with their own light: the Block at night, a Strip Mall at sunset, Downtown at dusk, a glass-roofed Mall at midday, a Rail Yard at dawn and a Prison.
A full arsenal: AK, MP5, Uzi, M14, an M700 sniper, a pump shotgun, a pistol and frag grenades.
Six modes: team deathmatch, free-for-all, Bling, Turf, Bag Run and Breakout.
Level-ups that unlock more guns and maps as you play.

If you like Call of Duty Mobile

Call of Duty Mobile and Standoff 2 taught a lot of players the 5v5 rhythm: quick respawns, a mix of rifles, SMGs and snipers, and a reward for staying alive. Block Wars plays in that lane. The streak ladder is the closest part to CoD, except your rewards come from your own crew by phone call.

The scale is smaller and the setup is faster. Both teams are filled with bots, so every match is a full five against five from the first second, with no wait for other players.

What sets this gang shooter game apart

Most mobile shooters treat the map as a backdrop. Here the street is the point: blue crew against red crew, fighting over a porch-lined block, a mall with escalators, a rail yard and a prison, with big banners like WELCOME TO THE BLOCK and DOUBLE KILL over the fight.

The ride-by is the moment everyone plays for. Headlights come down the street, the car rolls past, and the red crew drops. Getting there takes nine kills in one streak, so every fight before it matters. Early on, stay close to your teammates, take the M700 for open streets and an SMG or the pump for tight corners.

Is Block Wars a gang shooter game like Call of Duty Mobile?

In the basics, yes: 5v5 teams, team deathmatch, rifles, SMGs and snipers, and streak rewards. The difference is the setting, rival crews on city blocks, and the fact that the other players are bots.
