2 player games for every kind of pair

Co-op: two people, one goal

Good co-op needs both players. If one person can carry the other, it is not really a two-player game.

• Fireboy and Watergirl. The best-known two-player co-op web series, by Oslo Albet. One plays fire, one plays water, and each can only touch their own pools.
• Split Fiction. Hazelight's 2025 co-op adventure for exactly two players. A free Friend's Pass lets the second player join online.
• It Takes Two. Hazelight's earlier co-op game. Every level adds a new mechanic, and it also has a Friend's Pass.

Duels: one winner

A duel works best when rounds are short and a loss feels like your fault. Chess is the old answer, and pass-and-play on one phone still works. For something faster, Roam has several 1v1 games.

CLUTCH is a 1v1 arena shooter over five rounds. Beach Hoops is street basketball, first to 11. Skyshard Duel is a best-of-three fantasy fight on a sky island. Rubber Chicken Duel is a party knockout: knock them all off to win.

Party: two people, low stakes

Some pairs just want chaos. Super Battle Golf, out on Steam since February 19, 2026, is golf where everyone swings at once and knocks each other around. It plays with 2 to 8, so it grows when more friends join.

On Roam, Voxel Duel Arena is a one-ring brawler and Split Scare is a split-screen co-op puzzle game: two kids, one haunted theatre, help each other out. It plays a lot like Fireboy and Watergirl.

Make a two-player game about the two of you

Any game on Roam can change by talking. Say "make it two-player" and it becomes a game for two. Start from a sentence, or a photo of the two of you, and you become the characters.
