Games to play on a call, from zero setup to full game
You are already talking, so the best call games use the talking. Start with games that need nothing, move to games you share with a link, and end with games you send to every phone on the call.
Level 1: nothing to install
These work on a voice call, a video call or FaceTime. One person needs to keep score, that is all.
- 20 Questions. One person thinks of a thing, everyone else gets 20 yes-or-no questions. Make it harder: only famous people from this year.
- Would You Rather. Two bad options, everyone picks, then defends it. Works best when the questions are about the people on the call.
- Never Have I Ever. Hold up fingers on video, lose one each time you have done it. Last hand up wins.
- Two Truths and a Lie. Each person says three facts, the group votes on the lie. Good for calls with new people.
Level 2: share a link
Gartic Phone and Skribbl.io are the usual picks when a call needs more than talking. Gartic Phone is drawing plus telephone: you write a line, the next person draws it, and it falls apart by the end. Skribbl.io is draw-and-guess with private rooms. One person makes a room and pastes the link in the chat.
Both work on a laptop while you talk on your phone, which is the easiest setup for a FaceTime night.
Level 3: send a game to the call
Roam is a free iPhone app with party games that fit a call. KNOW IT! is a game-show trivia quiz. Sound Like a Goat is a comedy sound-imitation game where your finger is your voice. Vote Them Out is an election party game. Red Flag Green Flag gives you one card and one call: red or green, then you argue about it. Read My Head is a multiplayer deathmatch where you read their number before they read yours.
You can also make a new game during the call. Describe it in a sentence, and everyone on the call can be in it.

Make a game for your next call with Roam
Type the game in one sentence while everyone is still on the line. Roam makes it playable on iPhone, and your friends can be the characters.
