Dino Tamer is a dinosaur hunting game you play in the Roam app on iPhone, starring an archer in a jungle camp full of torches and banners. Track the prey markers, aim with a drag and loose arrows, or use the tame button to win a dinosaur over. Stampedes and a spiky alpha boss keep the hunt from feeling like target practice.

Controls and the hunt

Move with the joystick on the left.
Drag on the right side of the screen to aim the bow. The crosshair follows your finger.
Tap the big fire button to shoot. The number on it is how many arrows you have.
Use the dash button to get clear and the tame button to tame instead of kill.
Bring in 6 prey to finish the hunt. Markers show how far away each one is.

What is out in the jungle

Raptor packs, stampedes and pteranodons that ambush from above.
A spiky alpha dinosaur as the big fight.
Hunting and taming in the same run, so not every dino has to fall.
HP, coins and a dino counter on screen, so you always know the score.

If you like ARK or Dino Hunter

ARK: Survival Evolved is famous for taming dinosaurs, and Dino Hunter: Deadly Shores for shooting them on a phone. Dino Tamer borrows a bit of both: you hunt with a bow and can tame what you track.

It is far smaller than ARK. A hunt is a clear task with a number on it rather than an open survival world, which makes it a quick session instead of a whole evening.

First hunt tips for this dinosaur hunting game

Walk toward the nearest PREY marker first. The small ones near camp are easy shots while you learn the drag aim. Keep an eye on the arrow count on the fire button so you do not run dry mid-fight.

When a pack shows up, dash sideways before you aim. Raptors close distance fast, and standing still makes you the easy target instead of them.

Try taming on at least one prey early, just to see how it changes the hunt.
