Play free nowA hooded reaper with a scythe walks into a moonlit courtyard ringed by a moat, and the level card reads Moonlit Courtyard, 0/5 crowns. Tame the Nightmares takes the idea behind monster taming games and puts it into a real-time brawler, played in the Roam app on iPhone. Fight the small nightmare creatures, tame them and collect all 5 crowns. Glowing flames are the only light in the dark.

What stands out
- A reaper hero with a scythe
- Nightmare monsters with their own level bars
- A night courtyard with a moat and glowing flames
- Crowns as the goal instead of a kill count
Monster taming games, but you fight first
Most monster taming games are slow and turn-based. Here you swing the scythe in real time, and taming is the payoff for winning a fight. A tamed nightmare is a fight you do not have to have again.
Each creature shows its level above its head, so you can pick fights you can win and come back to the tougher ones later.
Tips for the courtyard
The scene is very dark, so turn your screen brightness up. Creatures are much easier to spot that way. The flames around the courtyard also help you find your way in the dark.
Do not fight everything at once. Draw one or two away from the group, finish them, then move on to the next. Use jump to get out of a crowd, and save the special orb for the bigger creatures with higher level bars.
For dark fantasy fans
Players who like dark fantasy and a hero who looks like trouble. A reaper taming nightmares is a strong, simple hook.
It also suits anyone who finds classic monster collectors too slow. Fights are quick, the goal is five crowns, and you can see the whole courtyard from the start. The crown counter on screen always tells you how close you are.
