Which one to pick

Pick Sekai if

Your fun lives in the group chat. Sekai is built for quick formats like a "who's most likely to" quiz or a party game, sent as a link. It runs on iPhone, iPad and Android, and its catalog also plays on the web.

Pick Roam if

You want a game with a world, characters and rules, with your friends inside it. Describe it in a sentence, then change it by talking. Roam is on iPhone; Android is pre-register only.

What Sekai is, and what it does well

This page is about Sekai, the AI app from Versa AI. It is not the Hatsune Miku rhythm game Project Sekai, which is a different app from SEGA.

Sekai has been on the App Store since June 2024. You type an idea and its AI builds a playable mini app: a personality quiz, an interactive birthday card, a meme, a story or a small game. Any post can be remixed, so you can swap the characters or the questions and make it yours. The feed is endless, and sharing is made for group chats.

It is big. Google Play shows 10M+ downloads, and the US App Store shows 4.8 stars from about 30,000 ratings.

How to make a game in Sekai, step by step

Is the Sekai app free?

Sekai is free to download. Its US App Store listing lists no in-app purchases and says the app contains advertising. Sekai does not publish any free limits, prices or credits in its terms, so check inside the app before you plan a big project.

A quiz in the chat, or a game with your friends in it

Both start from a sentence. The difference is what comes back. Sekai makes short, shareable formats, and friends play them from a link. Roam makes a game with a world, art, characters, sound and rules, and your friends can be in it with you, solo if they are offline, together when they join.

Roam can also start from a photo: your friend, your dog, a meme screenshot. Then you edit by talking: "more enemies", "make it two-player". There is no code and no project file to manage.

Sekai is ahead on reach today. It runs on Android, and its catalog plays on the web. Roam is on iPhone and iPad, with Android pre-registration on Google Play.

Five Sekai alternatives

  • Loopit iPhone and Android, from Beijing SeedLeap. It makes playables: interactive memes, tactile mini games and remixes. Its terms require users to be 13 and give Loopit a perpetual, sublicensable license to what you post.
  • Aippy iPhone and Android. You chat with AI to build games, simulators, small tools and interactive art. Its free plan allows 4 messages a day and 20 a month, and its terms allow commercial use of what you build.
  • Castle iPhone and Android, on the App Store since 2021. You build by hand in an editor with tools for art, physics, logic and sound, start from templates or remix others. Creating and sharing never needs a purchase, per its listing.
  • Astrocade Web, iPhone and Android. Describe a game and its AI builds art, sound and gameplay, then share it to the feed. Its terms limit use to personal, non-commercial use, and AI output stays Astrocade Content.
  • Roam iPhone and iPad (App Store). Describe a game and play solo or with friends in the game. Free to download and play; making works without a subscription. Optional Spark and Reality plans and credit packs add more creation.

Take the quiz or joke you would send on Sekai and make it a game on your iPhone, with your friends inside it.
