The round clock starts at 1:50 and the score reads 0:0 as your side pushes into a sandy desert town. DUSTLINE is one of those games like Counter Strike, built for the Roam app on iPhone: first-person rifle, 30 rounds in the mag, a minimap and enemy soldiers rushing the streets. Move with the left thumb, drag to aim, hold to fire. Matches run in two halves, starting on the South side.

Controls and round rules

  1. Use the joystick to move and drag on the right to aim.
  2. Hold the fire button to shoot, and reload when your 30-round mag runs low.
  3. Crouch behind cover, throw a grenade into a corner, and use the medkit when HP drops.
  4. Scope in with the aim button for longer shots.
  5. Win the round before the 1:50 clock runs out.

What it gets right

  • A detailed desert town with streets, corners and cover
  • A full mobile FPS button set: scope, crouch, reload, grenade, medkit
  • Team score, kills and a minimap on screen
  • Two halves per match, like a competitive shooter

If you play Counter-Strike

The layout and pace will feel familiar: sandy streets, team rounds with a timer, rifles and grenades, and a match split into halves. If you grew up on Dust2, the look of this town will ring a bell.

DUSTLINE is built for a phone: big buttons, short rounds and a clear scoreboard, so a match fits into a short break.

Games like Counter Strike on iPhone: tips

Do not run into the open. Hold a corner, let the enemy come to you and fire in short bursts. Rifles are more accurate when you are not sprinting.

Check the minimap often. It helps you keep track of the streets around you so you are not caught from the side.

A quick round between bigger games

Shooter fans who want a quick round on the phone without a long setup. You get a scoreboard, a clock and a desert town, and the round starts.

It is also a good warm-up if you play bigger shooters elsewhere. The controls follow the usual mobile layout, so your thumbs will find fire, reload and scope without hunting for them.
