Play Maul Ball

Soccer, but you are a dinosaur and biting is allowed.

Free on iPhone in the Roam app. Android coming soon.

Maul Ball is a dinosaur soccer game where the teams walk out onto a desert pitch, the banner says Kick off, and you are the dinosaur. Run at the ball, bite it, charge whatever animal stands in your way and send it into the goal. A match lasts 2:30, and you play it in the free Roam app on iPhone. It is soccer with the rules bent toward chaos: stamina, a charge and a bite matter as much as a clean shot.

Controls on the pitch

Drag on the left side of the screen to run.
Tap Bite to grab the ball, or to bite a rival.
Use Charge to barrel through animals, and Jump to get over the crowd.
Watch your stamina. Charging drains it.
Score more goals than the other team before the 2:30 clock ends.

Why it is more fun than a plain kickabout

A full pitch of animated animals, not a few stiff players.
Bite and charge moves that turn tackles into slapstick.
Match timer, team score and stamina on screen, nothing more.
A proper kick off with teams walking out, like a real match.

What kind of dinosaur soccer game is this

Most animal soccer games are cute: pets or cartoon animals passing politely. Maul Ball goes the other way. You are a big predator in a match against wild animals, and the moves are built around that. A charge clears a path, a bite takes the ball, and the other side does not stand still while you do it.

It still plays like soccer where it counts. There are two goals, a score at the top and a clock, so every rush either ends in a shot or a turnover.

Tips for your first match

Do not spend all your stamina in the first ten seconds. A charge is strongest when it opens a lane to the goal, not in midfield.

Bite the ball to keep it close while you run, then commit to the shot once a gap opens. When you lose the ball, a quick charge at the carrier is often faster than chasing.
