A purple portal opens at the end of a voxel lane, and the only thing between it and your castle is a wall. Merge and Defence asks you to put units on that wall and merge matching ones into stronger defenders as the waves get bigger. It is one of the merge tower defense games you can play free in the Roam app on iPhone. Pick 50 Waves for a run with an end, or Endless to see how long the wall holds.

How the defence works

Choose a mode on the start screen: 50 Waves or Endless.
Place units on the castle wall.
Merge two matching units to make a stronger one.
Hold the wall as enemies come out of the portal in waves.

Rush Royale made merge tower defense a mobile staple: units sit on a board, matching ones merge into a stronger tier, and enemies march along a path toward you. Merge and Defence uses the same core, merging on a limited space to beat waves.

The setting is a castle wall instead of a card deck board, and the game is solo. There is no opponent on the other side, just the portal and the wave count, so the challenge is your own merges against the waves.

Tips for merge tower defense games

Do not fill the wall with weak units and forget them. Merging is how you get stronger, so leave room and combine as soon as you can.

In 50 Waves, think about the late waves early: a few strong units beat many weak ones. In Endless, the goal is to stretch as far as possible, so keep merging every time you get the chance.
