Depth 1 of 3. A diver in a mech suit floats in clear blue water, schools of orange fish closing in from every side, and a timer says the boss surfaces in 4:56. Drag to swim. The harpoons fire by themselves. Collect the gems the fish drop, level up, pick an upgrade and get ready. For quick runs, it is one of the best games like Vampire Survivors on mobile, and every dive is free in the Roam app on iPhone.

How a dive works

  1. Drag to swim. Your harpoons aim and fire on their own.
  2. Collect the gems fish drop to fill your level bar.
  3. Pick an upgrade each time you level up.
  4. Tap Dash to escape when a swarm surrounds you.
  5. Survive until the boss surfaces, then beat it.

What makes the dive fun

  • Auto-firing harpoons, so you focus on movement
  • Gems, levels and upgrade picks on every run
  • Three depths and a boss timer
  • A lively reef with caustic light, coral and big fish schools

Games like Vampire Survivors on mobile, but underwater

Vampire Survivors made a whole genre: you move, weapons fire automatically, enemies swarm, and upgrades turn you into a force of nature. Sink or Swarm brings that loop under the sea. The harpoons do the shooting, and your job is to swim well, grab gems and choose upgrades.

The boss timer gives each depth a clear end point, and the points counter at the top shows how well the run is going.

Tips for your first dive

Keep moving in wide circles. Swarms close in when you stop.

Grab gems when it is safe, not when it means swimming into a school of fish. Save Dash for real trouble. When the boss timer gets low, make sure your health bar at the bottom is high. Each depth is a fresh fight.

Upgrades stack, so pick ones that work together instead of a little of everything.

How it compares to other roguelite games

Most roguelites on iOS take a while to learn. Sink or Swarm needs one finger and teaches itself in seconds: the first screen says drag to swim, harpoons fire by themselves. The depth of the game comes from upgrade picks, so every run plays a little differently.
