Candles flicker on stone walls, a sword is in your hand, and a waypoint 40 meters ahead points to the first key. Wake the Dragon is a first person dungeon crawler in the Roam app on iPhone. Floor 1 of 12 asks you to find the Bone Key and open 2 chests. Below that, eleven more floors lead down to a sleeping dragon. Fight with your sword, block with your shield, and try to beat the par time on each floor.

Sword, shield and keys

  1. Drag the left side to walk through the dungeon.
  2. Tap the sword to attack and the shield to block.
  3. Use jump, your star skill and the alert button when you need them.
  4. Find the key on each floor, like the Bone Key on floor 1.
  5. Open chests and head down until you reach the dragon on floor 12.

What keeps you going down

  • Twelve dungeon floors with a clear progress bar.
  • Keys and chests to find on every floor.
  • Sword and shield combat in first person.
  • A par time per floor for players who like a fast run.

A first person dungeon crawler on a phone

First-person dungeon crawlers are an old and loved genre: walls close around you, a torch lights a few meters and every corner could hide a fight. Wake the Dragon brings that feeling to iPhone with a held sword, a shield and simple touch controls.

The goal is clear from the first second. Every floor has a key to find, and the dragon at the bottom gives the whole run a reason.

Each floor is short, with a key, two chests and a par time, so you can play one floor at a time or push for several in a row.

Tips for the first floors

Follow the waypoint. The dungeon is dim, and the distance marker is the fastest way to the key. Block before you swing when an enemy is close, and watch your blade's HP bar so you know how much fight you have left.

Chests are worth the detour. Open both on floor 1 before heading down, and save the par time for when you know the layout.
