Play free nowSix beat-up cars line up on a dusty junkyard track, the countdown drops and everyone goes for the same first corner. Wreckyard Derby is a race with contact: smash rivals and barrels to earn boost, fix your car with the wrench and hit reset when you end up facing the wrong way. Two laps, a minimap and a position counter tell you where you stand. It is a demolition derby game you play in the Roam app on iPhone.
Race controls
- Steer with the stick; the screen reminds you with 'STEER WITH THE STICK'.
- Ram rivals and obstacles to earn boost, then hit BOOST.
- Tap the wrench to repair, and use reset if you get stuck.
- Finish two laps in the best position you can.
What makes it messy
- Physics cars that crash and shed debris
- Barrels and junk all over the track
- Boost earned by smashing, not just driving well
- Repair and reset buttons, so a wreck is not the end
For fans of games like Wreckfest and FlatOut
FlatOut and Wreckfest proved that racing is better when you can wreck the other cars. Wreckyard Derby keeps that mix: you still race for position, but contact is part of the plan.
It is a smaller game, with six cars and two laps on a junkyard track, made for touch controls on a phone.
Contact is not a penalty here. It is how you fill the boost bar, so the best racers are also the best bullies.
Tips for your first derby
Do not fear contact at the start. The first corner is crowded, and a hit there can earn boost early.
Save repairs for when you really need them. Use the wrench after a big crash, not after every scrape.
Why a demolition derby game beats a clean racer
In a clean racer, one mistake ruins the lap. In a demolition derby game, mistakes are part of the show. A crash can cost you a place, or it can knock a rival into the barrels and earn you boost.
That keeps every race loud and close, even when you are in fifth.
