Quick answer
Replit Agent builds web and mobile apps from plain-language prompts, and Replit's own mobile tutorial builds a small retro game app. Small web games are a good fit. You still test each round, publish to a .replit.app address, and set up anything online yourself. Roam, an iPhone app that is free to download, takes a different path: you describe the game and it comes back playable, with no code.
Updated . Roam is our app, and the Roam team wrote this page. Roam is free to download and play on iPhone, and making works without a subscription; optional Spark and Reality plans and credit packs add more creation. Android: pre-register on Google Play.

Which one to pick
Use Replit if
You want a web game or app with its own address, you like seeing the code, and you will test and steer the Agent through rounds of fixes.
Use Roam if
You want the game itself on your iPhone, to play solo or with friends, and you never want to open a project or read an error.
Can Replit make a game? What it does well
Replit's docs say Agent turns ideas into apps from plain language, with no coding required. You chat in the Project Editor, and Agent sets up the project, writes the code, checks its work and fixes problems.
Replit's Agent overview lists web apps, mobile apps, dashboards and AI tools. Games are not named there, but they fit. Replit's "Start your first mobile app" tutorial builds PixelGames, a Game Boy style app with a D-pad and four games on the menu. One of them, Blocks, is playable in the tutorial.
Small games with clear rules work best: block puzzles, Snake, Breakout, quizzes. Bigger games mean more rounds of fixes.
What a Replit game takes
- Test every round. Agent builds, but you play the game, spot what is wrong and tell it. Each change is another round.
- Publish it. Publishing works on every plan and gives the game a .replit.app address. On the free Starter plan you get 1 published app, and its link goes down after 30 days unless you republish.
- Mind the credits. Starter gives daily Agent credits up to a monthly cap and only Lite build. Full build needs the paid Core or Pro plan.
- Get it onto phones. Agent builds mobile apps with Expo. You preview with the free Expo Go app by scanning a QR code. The App Store needs a paid Apple Developer Program membership, and Replit does not publish to Google Play yet.
- Build multiplayer yourself. Playing together live needs networking code and a server that connects players.
Building on your phone: Replit's app vs Roam
Replit has a phone app. You can chat with Agent, edit a project and publish it to the web. Replit's docs say you cannot create, preview, build or submit a native iOS app there; that work happens in the Project Editor at replit.com.
Roam starts on the phone and ends with a game, not a project. Type the game in a sentence or start from a photo. It comes back playable. Then you change it by talking: "more enemies", "make it faster".
How it works on Roam
- Download Roam from the App Store on your iPhone.
- Type the game: "pogo jumper up a candy tower, my friend races me to the top."
- Play it, then say what to change.
- Play it with friends.
Want the game, not the project?
Roam is free to download on iPhone. Describe the game you would have asked Replit for, and play it with friends.
Try: "pogo jumper up a candy tower, my friend races me to the top"
