Quick answer
Lovable says it works best for 2D web games like puzzles, quizzes, card games and simple platformers, and you publish them to a lovable.app link. Bolt.new lists games among the mobile apps it can build with Expo. In both, you test the game, ask for fixes and publish it. Roam, an iPhone app that is free to download, makes the game itself: describe it and play.
Updated . Roam is our app, and the Roam team wrote this page. Roam is free to download and play on iPhone, and making works without a subscription; optional Spark and Reality plans and credit packs add more creation. Android: pre-register on Google Play.

Which one to pick
Use Lovable if
You want a 2D web game with its own link and high scores, and you are fine testing and asking for fixes round by round.
Use Bolt.new if
You want a real mobile app with its own code, and you will set up Expo and a developer account.
Use Roam if
You want the game itself on your iPhone, with friends in it, and no project, code view or store console.
Can Lovable make games? What its own pages say
Lovable's games page says it works best for 2D games: puzzles, quizzes, word, card and arcade games, and simple platformers. Keyboard, mouse and touch controls come built in, and a backend can keep high scores, saves and player accounts.
Lovable's FAQ says it builds web apps, not native apps. Players open your game from a link, or add it to the home screen.
Can Bolt.new make games?
Yes. Bolt's help center lists games among the mobile apps you can build. Mobile apps go through its Expo integration, so say "mobile game" in your first prompt: Bolt's docs say switching a web project to mobile later is hard.
You preview it on your phone with Expo Go. A store release needs an Expo account plus an Apple or Google Play developer account. Code view is desktop only.
What a Lovable or Bolt game takes
- Say the game type up front. Both tools build apps first. Name the genre, the controls and the goal in the first prompt.
- Test every round. You play each build, spot what feels wrong and say so. Each fix uses more credits or tokens.
- Publish it. Lovable publishes to a lovable.app address, free from the Publish dialog even at zero credits. Bolt gives every project a free bolt.host subdomain.
- Build multiplayer yourself. Neither tool names live multiplayer for games. Shared matches need networking code and a server.
Skip the project: make the game on your phone
Lovable and Bolt give you an app and its code, which is great for a product. If you only want the game, Roam is shorter. Type it in a sentence or start from a photo. It comes back playable, and you change it by talking: "more enemies", "make it two-player".
How it works on Roam
- Download Roam from the App Store on your iPhone.
- Type the game: "a shark that eats fish, then swimmers, then boats, with a lava boss at the end."
- Play it, then ask for one change at a time.
- Bring friends into the game.
Want the game without the app project?
Roam is free to download on iPhone. Describe the game you would have asked Lovable or Bolt for, and play it with friends.
Try: "a blob with a long rubbery arm climbs a stone tower, my friend races me up"
