Rowboat Rally is a boat race game online free to play that borrows the best parts of kart racing and puts them on a river. Play it in the Roam app on iPhone.

How to race

Slide your thumb on the joystick to steer the boat.
Collect mushroom boosts floating on the river.
Tap the boost button to fire a speed burst when you need it.
Finish three laps ahead of the seven other boats. The minimap shows the whole course.

A boat race game online free, with kart racing rules

If you have played Mario Kart, you already know how this works: a pack of racers, boosts on the track and a fight for first. Rowboat Rally swaps karts for rowboats and the road for a river. The water is wide, so overtaking is about lines and timing rather than bumping.

Races are three laps, short enough to play several in a row.

Tips for a podium finish

Take the inside of bends. The river is wide and the outside line costs time.

Grab every mushroom you can reach, but do not swerve across the whole river for one. Save your boost for the straight before the finish, where a late burst can take two places at once. The minimap at the top right shows the course shape, so learn where the long straights are on lap one.

How it compares to other boat games

Most boat games online are speedboat sims or chill fishing games. Rowboat Rally is a full race with rivals, closer to an arcade kart racer than to a sim. The blocky voxel look keeps it light and readable on a small screen.

Each race also shows your lap count and a timer under your position, so you can chase a cleaner, faster run next time.
