Play free nowMutant nests dot a cracked gray wasteland, and six troopers stand in a line at the gate of your black fortress. SOOTFALL is a squad rts game on mobile, played in the Roam app on iPhone: tap the ground and the squad marches there, call a barrage on a nest, then build up the base between pushes. A wave clock runs at the top, so you plan while the timer ticks. It is grimdark bug war, scaled down to taps.

- Tap All units to select the whole squad at once.

If you like Starship Troopers: Terran Command
Terran Command is a PC strategy game about troopers holding the line against bugs. SOOTFALL shares that fantasy: a squad, a base and nests to burn. The difference is scale and input. There is no mouse drag to select; you tap the ground, tap All units and call in a barrage.
It is a much smaller game, but it gets you to the explosions fast. A wave can start, burn and end in the time a PC strategy match spends loading a map.
First steps in an rts game on mobile
Follow the five tutorial steps. They cover moving, selecting and building, and the commander's notes tell you where the first nest is.
Keep the squad together. Six troopers firing at one nest do more than six troopers spread across the map. Open the Build menu early so your base is not an afterthought when the wave timer runs out.
Use Barrage on the nest itself, not on stray bugs. It is your biggest hit, and saving it for the main target makes each wave shorter.
SOOTFALL FAQ
Is SOOTFALL real-time or turn-based?
Real-time. A wave clock runs at the top while you move the squad, so you give orders on the fly.
Is SOOTFALL hard to control on a phone?
Not really. It is built as an rts game on mobile, so the controls are big taps: the ground, All units, Barrage and Build. A five-step tutorial shows each one.
Does SOOTFALL have a price tag?
No. SOOTFALL is in Roam, a free iPhone app, so starting the bug war costs nothing.
What is the goal in SOOTFALL?
Burn out the mutant bug nests. Your commander points out the first one, and you send the squad, call barrages and expand your fortress until every nest is gone.
